I was born and educated in Romania, Eastern Europe, and I have painted since I was a child. I studied painting for four years in Romania, specializing in figurative art, landscape and portraiture, and continue to practice as an independent artist, in parallel with my teaching career. Painting always came naturally to me. I have always been fascinated by light and by shadow, by the variety of landscapes and by the complexities of the human face. In my travels in Europe and North America, I try to capture that which is distinct about the places I visited and the people I meet.
